Substance Abuse Counselor
to join our growing Men's Residential treatment team!

P osition Purpose
Primary responsibility is to build an alliance with clients by providing education, and motivation to support them in making positive changes in their life and reduce the negative consequences associated with substance use and abuse.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provides client centered care utilizing evidence-based and trauma informed services.
- Uses motivational interviewing techniques to establish therapeutic rapport and facilitate active engagement in services.
- Conducts assessment interviews using the ASAM and DSM-5.
- Works collaboratively with other providers to ensure services are seamless.
- Provides evidence based therapeutic interventions to address identified treatment and recovery goals.
- Facilitates evidenced based groups.
- Conducts individual counseling sessions.
- Types and maintains timely and accurate documentation including group notes, individual notes, status reports, as well as documenting other contacts made concerning the client.
- Monitors random urinalysis testing.
- Completes monthly status reports for all clients on caseload and facilitates sending them to providers involved with client's care.
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Coordinates and maintains a working relationship with all referral sources.Attends staff meetings and works as a member of a multidisciplinary team to identify and implement quality services.Performs other duties as assigned.Qualifications
Must have a Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CADC) Certification with MHACBO.Qualified candidate must be able to pass a criminal background check.Associate degree or equivalent combination of training and education in Human Services or related field from an accredited college or university preferred.The qualified candidate will generally have at least three years of addiction counseling experience.Excellent interpersonal communication skills.Strong computer and time management skills.Advanced understanding of ASAM PPC-2R and DSM-5.Intermediate understanding of Oregon Administrative Rules is preferred.Benefits
