Senior / Head Of Product

We are Toogeza, a Ukrainian recruiting company that is focused on hiring talents and building teams for tech startups worldwide. People make a difference in the big game, we may help to find the right ones.

Currently, we are looking for a Senior / Head of Product for The Kyiv Independent. The Kyiv Independent is Ukraine's main English-language news outlet. It was founded in November 2021 by a team of reporters and editors who were fired from the Kyiv Post for defending editorial independence, in partnership with a media consultancy company Jnomics. Today, it's a team of around 70 people based mostly in Kyiv. Publishing in English, we serve as Ukraine's voice in the world and the world's window into Ukraine.

Responsibilities : Strategy

  • Design & implement a product strategy & roadmap for the Kyiv Independent.
  • Work hand in hand with the company's top management and make sure the product strategy fits into the overall company development.

Execution & Development

  • Grow and lead the product & technology team; lead a team of current direct reports and develop plans to scale it.
  • Guide the engineering team on UX improvements and overall user experience.
  • Lead the development of the Kyiv Independent's mobile app and digital platforms.

    • Growth & Analytics

  • Lead experimentation and A / B testing strategies to drive product growth.
  • Use audience data and analytics to inform product decisions and tailor digital offerings to user needs.

    • Innovation & Partnerships

  • Identify and manage external partnerships (e.g., AI tools, subscription platforms, audience analytics).
  • Stay up to date with industry best practices and innovation in digital media.

    • Requirements :

  • Experience of working as a Senior Product Manager / Head of Product / other relevant product & tech experience.
  • Experience of work in the media industry would be considered an advantage.
  • Strong command of the English language (fluent or native).
  • Strong business sense and a passion for using data to make decisions.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with team members and external stakeholders.
  • Leadership skills and the ability to set and prioritize goals.
  • Understanding of news and current affairs in Ukraine and the region would be considered an advantage.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the values of the Kyiv Independent.
