Job Description & Requirements Specialty : Sterile Processing Technician Discipline : Allied Health Professional Duration : Ongoing 40 hours per week Shift : 8 hours Employment Type : Staff Position Summary Provides services in the decontamination and sterile processing areas whenever monitoring of sterilizers is needed. Collaborates with OR staff to provide sterile instruments and equipment needed for operative procedures. Assists with ongoing inventory of sterile supplies, equipment, schedule completion and communication for the department. Position performs duties in an independent manner with little or no supervision. Decontaminates, cleans and processes items according to established standards. Utilizes equipment in the sterile processing environment according to manufacturer's guidelines. Inspects and correctly assembles instrument trays replacing broken or lost instruments as needed. Maintains power equipment according to established standards. Performs sterility assurance testing to meet regulatory requirements. Completes documentation of the sterilization process accurately to meet regulatory standards and provide tracking mechanisms.
