ROLE OVERVIEW and PURPOSE

The Endodontist (dental specialist) works to support the mission and vision of Neighborhood Healthcare (NHC) by providing endodontic services to patients. This role will perform endodontic procedures and services to patients based on in-house dental assessments and plans, diagnosing and treating complex causes of tooth pain (i.e. infections leading to tooth abscesses). In addition, this role will impart health education information, relevant techniques to patients, as well as advising patients on post-surgery dental care, and prescribing suitable pain-relief medication.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Direct Patient Care

• Conducts, develops, and / or confirms suitable individualized in-house endodontic diagnosis and care plan based on dental conditions
• Reviewing patients' medical history and discussing their symptoms and concerns
• Utilizing dental instruments and x-ray equipment to determine the cause of patients' oral pain and discomfort
• Provides appropriate endodontic dental care / services, in compliance with standard of care
• Performing nonsurgical root canal treatment to treat damaged, infected, or calcified tooth pulp and / or canals
• Performing apicoectomies to treat persistent inflammation or infection occurring in the bony area around the end of the tooth
• Maintaining teeth that have previously undergone root canal procedures (aka retreatments)
• Performs dental procedures and services that are within the approved skills profile and / or scope of practice
• Observes, assesses, and records patients' symptoms, reactions, and treatments progress
• Prescribes medications and provides patients with pertinent medication instructions, as needed
• Reasonably accepting of additional patients into the schedule, as feasible
• Accommodates patients with urgent dental needs, including walk-ins
• Creating and maintaining a professional appearance

Pay Ranges- $195,000-$245,530, per year depending on experience. (DOE)
