IDRA is a national non-profit organization whose mission is to achieve equal educational opportunity for every child through strong public schools that prepare all students to access and succeed in college. IDRA strengthens and transforms public education by providing dynamic training; useful research, evaluation, and frameworks for action;timelypolicy analyses; and innovative materials and programs.
IDRA's Summer Internship Program
IDRA's internship program is designed for undergraduate and graduate students who are passionate about educational equity and interested in gaining hands-on professional experience while contributing to meaningful projects across the organization. Interns work closely with IDRA staff to support projects aligned with their academic needs, areas of interest, and university course-credit requirements.
Intern tasks may include:
- Conducting research and data analysis
- Supporting program or project development
- Assistingwith communications/PR campaigns, writing and content creation
- Helping plan events, virtual sessions or community engagement activities
- Participating in strategy discussions and team meetings
- Contributing to advocacy, outreach or education practice work
- Assistingwith administrative or project coordination tasks
Assignments are matched to the intern's strengths and interests, as well as the needs of IDRA's teams.
Ideal candidates should possess the following:
- Good communication skills - written and verbal
- Ability to present oneself in a professional manner
- Ability to multi-task and manage time effectively
- Ability to produce high-quality, thorough work
- Ability to work independently and to function as part of a team
- Knowledge of using office and technological equipment or capable of learning to do so
- Self-motivation
- A strong desire to learn
Program Structure
Format:Fully remote
Duration: Approximately 8-10 weeks (varies by semester and university requirements)
Start Date:Flexible, based on academic term
Weekly Hours:20-30 hours per week
Compensation:Unpaid.Students may earn academic course credit. All credit arrangements must be made directly between the student and their university.
