The Senior Tax Accountant is responsible for preparing workpapers and handling the filings and payments for sales and use tax returns, business tax returns, property tax returns, as well as providing support with corporate income tax. The ideal candidate should have a solid understanding of accounting and strong knowledge of sales and use tax, business tax, and property tax. Knowledge of corporate income tax is a plus.
- Assists the manager in overseeing comprehensive multi-state sales and use tax compliance for the U.S. and Canada, including monthly, quarterly, and annual filings; issuing tax-exempt certificates, updating current tax rules and tax legislation changes to comply with applicable tax rates and other reporting requirements, and research sales tax issues.
- Resolve sales tax issues with customers.
- Review assigned sales tax codes for new products in the U.S. and Canada.
- Prepare and file quarterly and annual business tax returns.
- Prepare and file annual business personal property tax returns.
- Maintain adequate records and work papers supporting tax positions.
- Research legislative materials to identify new filing obligations and potential compliance exposures.
- Respond to and resolve tax notices and / or information requests from tax authorities.
- Assist in managing tax audits.
- Assist with other projects as assigned.
- Prepare quarterly corporate income tax estimated tax payment orders.
Experience / Training / Education
Bachelor degree in finance, or accounting.5 years experience as a tax accountant or similar role.Experience with Oracle or SAP ERP system is a plus.Tax accountant certification is preferred but not required.CPA or EA certification or in pursuit of CPA candidacy is preferred but not required.

Works in offices close to those of top management. Generally, work forty hours per week; however, some work shifts or extended hours during busy periods. When schedules change and problems arise, working under pressure is unavoidable, but deadlines and goals must still be met.
