Civil / Structural Engineer

P&D seeks a civil / structural or electrical engineer or designer to join our substation team and serve our investor-owned electric utility clients.

• Responsibilities
• Physical design for electrical substations
• Substation document and drawing preparation and review
• QA / QC of substation physical design
• Maintain working knowledge of current applicable codes and standards (i.e. NEC, NESC, IEEE)
• Developing / maintaining proficiency with the applications and tools necessary to complete projects requested by clients
• Stay informed of client, industry, and company news and developments
• Learn and remain aware of services offered by all departments within the company
• Align company capabilities with client needs; find opportunities to offer additional relevant services

4-10 years of related experience, preferably in substation physical design

Two-year technical degree, or electrical or civil engineering degree

Experience designing substations for investor-owned utilities is a plus

Proficiency with AutoCAD required

Proficiency with Microsoft® Office (required), Office 365 and SharePoint (preferred)

Excellent communication skills and strong organizational skills

Attention to detail

Effective problem-solving skills

This position may require occasional travel (approximately 10% of the time). Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States, and must pass a background check prior to employment.
