I’m conducting a confidential search for a Technical Director to lead the R&D and technical operations for a manufacturer in the industrial coatings sector. This role is all about innovation, team development, and product leadership—supporting major customers while staying ahead of industry trends.

• Leading a multi-site technical team (locations include the Southeast and Upper Midwest).
• Overseeing R&D, color development, QA, technical service/MOB, and plant-level support.
• Setting strategy, building talent pipelines, and driving process improvements.
• Acting as the technical bridge between customers, operations, and the marketplace.
• Bringing a forward-thinking mindset to formulation development and performance testing.

Ideal Background & Skills:

• 10+ years in technical leadership roles in industrial coatings or related chemical industries.
• Deep experience in formulation chemistry, pigment dispersion, resin systems, and testing.
• Known for building strong teams and creating high-performance lab environments.
• Hands-on technical ability paired with clear strategic vision.
