Membership Specialist

OVERVIEW OF POSITION : The Membership Specialist is responsible for driving growth and engagement in girl and adult membership through recruitment, volunteer management, and community partnerships. This role develops and supports Service Unit volunteer teams, builds collaborations with community stakeholders, manages assigned grants, and ensures effective delivery of the Girl Scout Leadership Experience across assigned geographic areas.

Membership Growth & Recruitment :
Build relationships with community stakeholders in the designated territory (Burlington County) to recruit new girls and adults into Girl Scouting.Conduct professional recruiting presentations to promote Girl Scout programs and membership.Support Service Units in achieving annual membership goals through targeted recruitment and engagement strategies.Ensure recruitment activities align with Council priorities and reflect community demographics.Volunteer Management & Support :
Recruit, train, and support Service Unit volunteers, ensuring they have the resources and guidance needed to deliver a quality Girl Scout Leadership Experience.Foster effective volunteer teams by recruiting, appointing, and supervising Service Unit managers and volunteers.Provide coaching, conflict resolution, and problem-solving support as needed.Recognize and celebrate volunteer accomplishments.Grant Management & Implementation :
Successfully manage assigned grants in compliance with guidelines and timelines.Achieve expected outcomes and submit all required reports accurately and on time.Collaborate with Council leadership to align grant initiatives with membership growth goals.Data & Technology Utilization :
Use the Council CRM system to track and analyze recruitment, retention, and volunteer engagement data.Conduct market research to identify opportunities for growth and improve strategies based on trends.Optimize use of Salesforce, Looker, and other tools to support volunteer management and customer service.Community & Stakeholder Engagement :
Build and maintain partnerships with schools, community organizations, and businesses to expand Girl Scout visibility.Identify opportunities for Council collaboration within the community.Represent GSCSNJ at events, fairs, and presentations to increase awareness and participation.Education, Experience, and Skills Requirements :
Associate’s Degree preferred; High School Diploma required2–3+ years of professional experience in sales, community outreach, or volunteer managementExperience working with diverse communities and building relationships across sectorsStrong organizational, communication, and public speaking skillsProficient in Microsoft, CRM systems (e.g., Salesforce), and virtual communication toolsAbility to learn and apply new technologies and data management practicesPhysical Requirements :
For office-based positions, the general physical expectations are that :
Ability to read materials and respond in writing or verballyOperate standard office equipment (computer, copier, phone, etc.)Move around the office as needed for meetings and collaborationOccasional lifting up to 20 poundsReasonable accommodation will be provided as needed.Other Expectations :
Role requires significant time in the community (approximately 50–70% of time out of the office)Some evening and weekend work required; overtime may be necessary during peak recruitment seasons (late summer / early fall)Reliable transportation requiredCompensation :
Full Time Exempt Position.
