Under limited supervision, the Security Officer provides security and protection of work site(s), personnel, and assets at the assigned job site. Enforces safety and security measures, performs regular vehicular and/or foot patrols of assigned premises, performs access control duties, operates and monitors CCTV equipment, and responds to incidents based on established operational procedures.
Minimum 18 years of age, high school diploma or equivalent, valid driver's license, reliable transportation to/from the work site, military, law enforcement, or security experience preferred, state unarmed security officer license or able to obtain, transportation worker identification credential (TWIC) or ability to obtain prior to hire, proficient in speaking, reading, understanding, and writing English, ability to handle crisis situations calmly and effectively, must successfully complete a criminal background investigation, drug screen, and a post-offer physical evaluation.
Minimum of two years of experience in law enforcement, military police, corrections, or private security company within the past five years, experience working in a refinery or plant, experience working in the oil and gas industry, certified in first aid & CPR, refinery safety standards, conversational Spanish.
Maturity of judgement and behavior, ability to present self in a highly professional manner with honesty, integrity, and ethics, ability to communicate respectfully with all visitors, coworkers, vendors, supervisors, managers, customers, and client representatives, ability to provide clear directions and respond accordingly, basic phone and computer skills, ability to work well under pressure, ability to work well alone and within a team.
Perform searches of vehicles (random inspections), confront suspicious persons, perform rescue functions at accidents, emergencies, and disasters, extinguish fires, effectively communicate over radio channels, gather information in investigations, read, comprehend, and employ policies and procedures, comprehend, evaluate, and correctly respond to oral information, operate a motor vehicle during both the day and night; in urban and rural setting, conduct visual surveillance for extended periods of time, observe, recall, and distinguish characteristics of persons, suspects, automobiles, location, property, understand and successfully execute post orders, maintain a neat, professional appearance, ability to work in a constant state of alertness in a safe manner, may be required to report back to work as necessary for emergent matters, willingness to perform other duties as required, willingness to work at various locations as required.

The employee will be required to work in a confined workspace such as a security guard post or patrol vehicle for extended periods of time and exposure to work assignments consisting of twelve-hour days and able to work day or night shifts as required. The majority of the work is performed in a refinery and railyard setting with a wide variety of people in differing functions, personalities, and abilities.
The employee's work requires routine walking, standing, sitting, bending, and carrying/lifting items weighing up to 50 pounds. Candidate will be required to successfully complete a post-offer pre-hire physical.
