Salary : POSITION SUMMARY
The Primary Therapist is responsible for providing the full range of therapeutic interventions to clients in treatment. This shall include, but not be limited to assessment and treatment services, family / relationship services, group process, educational presentations, treatment planning, and review, documentation of services and client response, concurrent reviews, discharge planning, and managed care contact as directed by designated staff. Therapists must demonstrate the knowledge and professional skills necessary to provide clinical care for substance abuse and co-occurring substance abuse clientele, as well as be able to maintain high standards of excellence in an ethical and trauma-informed setting.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Assessment Services
- Complete and evaluate biopsychosocial assessments and other data collection for each assigned client as policy and procedure delineate (PRN).
- Interview family members or third parties as necessary to obtain collateral information (PRN).
- Complete individualized initial treatment plans for clients entering treatment (PRN).
Treatment Services
Facilitate group therapy and individual therapy with appropriate clients and family members as directed.Conduct discharge planning; contacts outpatient services, inpatient treatment providers, extended care facilities, halfway houses, and other resources to assist clients in developing and establishing a detailed continuing care plan.Assist in the development of the clients treatment plan with other members of a treatment team and updates the treatment plan as policy and procedure delineates.Assess clients progress in treatment and document through progress notes and other electronic documentation as directed.Develop and present lectures and educational presentations to clients on subjects pertinent to substance use disorders as directedClinical support / case management
Contact family or significant third parties to provide information and arrange for participation in the clients admission or discharge.Make appropriate contacts and follow-ups when required to EAPs, employers, probation or court authorities, attorneys, etc.Participate in appropriate QA activities as directed.Related Services
Perform appropriately as a treatment team member to ensure quality service to clients.Demonstrate the clinical knowledge and professional skills required to provide care or arrange for the provision of appropriate care for all clients.Interpret the appropriate data to identify each clients requirements and insures and documents that age-specific issues are being addressed demonstrate age-specific competencies.Policy-driven UA and BAC as directed.Other duties as assignedHOURS : PRN
QUALIFICATIONS
Education & experience
Masters degree in Counseling, Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Psychology, or a related behavioral health field from an accredited institution required.Preference of 13 years of clinical experience providing individual, group, and family therapy in a behavioral health, mental health, or substance use treatment setting.Preference for experience with treatment planning, clinical documentation, crisis intervention, and evidence-based therapeutic modalities.Prior work in residential, outpatient, or multidisciplinary treatment environments preferred.Certifications / licenses
Current state licensure or licensure eligibility (e.g., LMFT, LCSW, LMHC, or equivalent).Dual licensure or certification in Substance Use Disorder (SUD) treatment is preferred.Required to maintain First Aid / CPR CertificationSkills and Abilities : Preference for skills and abilities in the following areas :
Demonstrated knowledge of :Confidentiality and HIPAA regulations.
Addiction, assessment, and treatment interventions.Treatment planning procedures.Family dynamics and intervention strategies.ASAM dimensions and ability to apply them in decisions related to admission, level of care transfers, discharge and continuing care.Classes of substances including physiological and psychological effects, symptoms of intoxication and symptoms of withdrawal.Major diagnostic categories associated with dual disorders.Ability to :Conduct an assessment / clinical interview, mental status examination and make treatment recommendations.
Document using the DAP format in a way that communicates progress in obtaining treatment goal objectives.Make a presentation to clients and families on topics related to addiction or related disorders.Facilitate both individual and group therapy sessions successfully; understands facilitation concepts.Intervene in a crisis (i.e. suicide / homicidal ideation or attempts, family conflict, client to client conflicts).The Blanchard Institute is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
