About the Role
Our client, a large and growing home care organization in New York, is seeking an experienced Human Resources Director to lead all HR functions across their nursing and administrative workforce. This leader will oversee HR operations, compliance, employee relations, talent strategy, and organizational development for a high-volume, fast-paced environment.
The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in healthcare HR—preferably within home care, home health, or related regulated healthcare settings—and excels at building strong teams, driving performance, and ensuring compliance with all DOH, state, and federal requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & HR Operations
Oversee the HR department, including recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, HR compliance, and policy administration.
Lead, mentor, and develop HR team members to ensure consistency, accuracy, and high service standards.
Partner with senior leadership to align HR strategies with organizational goals.
Employee Relations & Workforce Management
Serve as the primary point of contact for employee relations matters, investigations, conflict resolution, and corrective action.
Implement and manage performance evaluation processes, coaching frameworks, and employee development initiatives.
Foster a positive workplace culture rooted in accountability, recognition, and continuous improvement.
Compliance & Regulatory Oversight
Ensure full compliance with DOH, state, and federal regulations impacting home care staffing and employment practices.
Maintain and update HR policies, procedures, and employee handbook documentation.
Oversee credentialing, background checks, employee file audits, and required documentation compliance.
Collaborate with leadership and department managers to forecast staffing needs and guide workforce planning.
Support recruitment leadership on talent acquisition strategy to meet organizational hiring goals.
Lead initiatives focused on retention, engagement, and career development.
Compensation, Benefits & HR Reporting
Oversee compensation practices, salary structures, and benefits administration.
Analyze HR metrics and present insights to senior leadership, identifying trends and recommending solutions.
Ensure accurate HRIS data management and reporting.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field (Master's preferred).
7+ years of HR experience , with at least 3 years in an HR leadership or director-level role .
Experience in healthcare HR required; home care or home health strongly preferred.
Strong understanding of DOH, state, and federal regulations for healthcare workforce compliance.
Exceptional leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
Demonstrated success driving HR initiatives in high-volume, fast-paced environments.
Proficiency in HRIS systems, compliance systems, and standard HR technologies.
