About the Clinician's Workday

Required procedures and duties include esophageal dilatation and manometry, esophageal manometry interpretation, small bowel biopsy, lower GI endoscopy, sigmoidoscopy, colonoscopy, and liver biopsy. Additional responsibilities include insertion and management of Sengstaken / Blakemore tubes, performing endoscopic ultrasound (EUS), and completing upper GI endoscopy with capabilities such as biopsy, foreign body removal, cautery or laser for bleeders, injection or banding of varices, diagnostic and therapeutic ERCP, and PEG placement. On average, providers perform about eight procedures per weekend across GSI, hepatology, RGA, surgery, colon, EGD, and ERCP.
