American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Progressive Care (Stepdown / PCU) night shift position requiring NE or compact licensure and strong critical care certifications.
\n \n Responsibilities\n
Work in a 35-bed Progressive Care Unit (stepdown) within an acute care hospital settingAdult and geriatric patient population including cardiac, nephrology, stroke, diabetes, and continuous EEG monitoring casesNurse-to-patient ratios are 1 : 4-5Required to titrate drips such as Cardizem, beta blockers, and seizure medications12-hour night shifts, 1830-0700Requires work every other weekend and every third holidayFloating required to medical floors, ICU, or rehabEpic EMR is used on the unitProvide complex care to patients with acute and chronic conditions requiring stepdown level monitoringCollaborate with charge nurses and patient care techs, typically with a tech ratio of 1 : 10 or 2 : 20A fast-paced unit where success is supported by strong communication, critical thinking, and teamworkArtificial nails are prohibited in all patient care areasFirst week consists of onboarding with 1-2 days of orientation on the floorRTO (requested time off) limited to 7 days or fewer for each 13-week contract and must be approved up front; no additional RTO granted after startingNo on-call or standby requirementsHoliday coverage is expected based on unit rotation\n \n Requirements\n
Active NE or compact RN license in hand; pending licenses not acceptedMinimum 2 years of RN experienceCurrent BLS, ACLS, and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certifications requiredAbility to titrate cardiac and seizure dripsDriver's license required for verification of residenceCandidates must reside at least 50 miles from the facilityCannot have been employed full time, part time, or PRN by any CommonSpirit facility (including CHI / Dignity) in the last yearPassing a 90% open-book skills exam during orientation is required for continued employmentTwo professional references : one supervisor from the past 12 months, one supervisor or peer from the past 3 years\n Benefits\n
