Revenue Accounting Supervisor
This position is in the Revenue Accounting Unit, at SCDMV Headquarters in Blythewood, SC. Responsibilities of the Revenue Accounting Supervisor include daily and monthly balancing and reconciliation of revenues and transactions processed by or on behalf of South Carolina Department of Motor Vehicles. All reports must be balanced and all deadlines must be met. This individual must be flexible in helping the Revenue Accounting Manager in all areas including special projects as required.
This individual must create financial reports, balance and make adjustments as needed and update the Revenue Accounting Manager on all issues. Work with internal and external customers to ensure accuracy of data, revenues, general ledger codes, disburses and system issues and or updates.
Responsible for retrieving and balancing data from SC DMV batch reports, SC DMV on line screens, bank records, SCEIS and external customer reports as required by the Revenue Accounting Manager. This includes reviewing and working with other staff members as they prepare their daily and monthly reports. Take an active role in keeping the Revenue Accounting Manager updated and making sure that all reports are reconciled and all variances are documented and explained in detail.
Responsible for reviewing the Revenue Accounting Monthly Recon to ensure recorded revenue disbursements balance and are reported correctly. This position also serves as the back-up for the Revenue Accounting Manager and would assist others when the Manager is not available.
Test newly implemented processes and perform regression testing to ensure accurate financial information and reporting. This individual will work closely with the Financial Business Analyst, Revenue Accounting Management Team and other Business Analysts in headquarters to identify, document, track and work toward resolutions pertaining to any system issues, changes and updates.
This individual will exhibit strong leadership and time management skills. Serves as back-up in all areas in the Revenue Accounting Department. Prepare daily revenue monies for bank deposit as required. Performs other duties as outlined by the Revenue Accounting Manager.
Minimum and Additional Requirements
State Minimum Requirement : A high school diploma and professional experience in a related area such as accounting, auditing, finance or banking. A bachelor's degree with multiple accounting courses may be substituted for the required work experience. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted with prior approval.
Agency Requirements : Must complete a nationwide criminal background check to include finger printing.
Additional Requirements : Individual must have knowledge in principles, practices, theories and terminology of accounting, auditing and fiscal management. Knowledge of state governmental accounting processes and financial statement analysis. Ability to interpret and analyze financial data, records and reports. Understanding of present-day test methodologies and proven problem solving skills. Experience in the use of technologies for detecting and tracking financial deficiencies within systems. Must be proficient in Excel and Word. Strong time management, research and organizational skills. Deadline driven with a strong focus on accuracy. The person in this position must be self-motivated and have a positive disposition. Overall supervision and guidance will be given by the Revenue Accounting Manager. The person in this position must be professional and flexible in providing support for the Revenue Accounting Department in all areas including special projects. Exhibit exceptional customer service skills with internal and external customers. This individual must have good work ethics and demonstrate leadership skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Agency Preferred : Supervisory or leadership experience. A bachelor's degree or Associate's degree with at least five (5) consistent years of work experience in one or more of the following fields : accounting, auditing or finance.
