Description :

This unit consists of 36 private rooms.

It serves a patient population ranging from young adults to geriatrics.

Priority admission is given to patients requiring a medical level of cardiac care and recovery from cardiac interventions.

Interventions include cardiac surgery, coronary artery stent placement, and pacemaker implantation.

The unit also admits hemodynamically stable non-procedural cardiac patients.

Patient ratios are 1 : 6.

Float is required to units of equal or lesser acuity.

Candidates must have prior travel experience.

Weekend work is required every other weekend.

Special requirements include demonstrated skills in accessing and managing ports, arterial line management, blood product administration, and cardiac telemetry.

Skills in managing dysrhythmias, IV insulin protocols, and non-invasive airway management are also essential.

The unit collaborates with various interdisciplinary support services including physical therapy, respiratory services, social services, and pharmacy.
