Position Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Civil Rights Attorney to advocate for individuals whose rights have been violated. The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to social justice and a passion for defending civil liberties. This position involves representing clients in litigation, appeals, and post-conviction matters.

Key Responsibilities

• Represent clients in civil rights litigation cases, including trials and appeals
• Litigate cases under ss 1983 and related statutes
• Conduct legal research and prepare legal documents, including briefs and motions
• Advocate for clients in administrative hearings and court appearances
• Provide legal advice and counsel to clients regarding their civil rights
• Collaborate with community organizations and stakeholders to promote civil rights initiatives
• Stay informed about changes in laws and regulations affecting civil rights

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school
• Admission to practice in Illinois
• 1+ years of experience in civil rights litigation
• Prior experience (clerkship, clinic, internship) in post-conviction, criminal defense, or civil rights litigation
• Strong research, writing, and oral advocacy skills
• Experience with appeals and post-conviction matters is preferred
• Demonstrated commitment to civil rights and social justice
