Mechanical Assembly Technician (V)

JOB SUMMARY

The Mechanical Assembly Technician (Levels V) supports the design, build, and integration of mechanical subsystems for ASI's autonomous vehicle platforms. This hands-on position involves assembling components, performing precision fits, and collaborating closely with engineering, production, and quality teams to ensure accurate, reliable builds that meet design and performance standards.

Technicians perform assembly, inspection, and basic troubleshooting of mechanical systems and contribute to continuous improvement efforts in safety, efficiency, and quality.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Level I

• Assemble mechanical components and subassemblies following blueprints, diagrams, and work instructions.
• Use hand and power tools for basic fabrication tasks such as drilling, bolting, and fastening.
• Perform fit checks and verify clearances and alignments using calipers, rulers, and tape measures.
• Conduct visual inspections for workmanship and accuracy.
• Report discrepancies or non-conformances to the supervisor or quality team.
• Maintain a clean and organized workspace, adhering to safety and 5S standards.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts, and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme conditions. The noise level in the work environment can be loud.
