Teaching Professor

Detailed Description :

The Department of English at the University of San Diego seeks a Teaching Professor to work within the curriculum of both the English Department and the University’s Writing Program (housed in the English Department). The successful candidate will have demonstrated excellence in teaching at both the lower-division and upper-division levels, particularly in : first-year writing, literary theory, genre literature, oral histories, preparatory college writing, English as a second language, and creative writing courses. Preference will be given to candidates who have significant publications and are active in their fields.

This is a full-time, benefits-based position, with a 4 / 4 teaching load. The position begins in the Spring of 2026.

Job Requirements :

The successful candidate will

• Hold an advanced degree, preferably a doctorate or other terminal degree. ABD candidates will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
• Have demonstrated a commitment to teaching and research, and mentoring undergraduates.
