Accountant-Auditor I

The Office of the Auditor-Controller has an excellent career opportunity for those who seek to work in a fast-paced, dynamic, and energetic work environment. The Accountant-Auditor role is unique to the Office of the Auditor-Controller and has a broad scope, encompassing county-wide financial activities. The primary mission of the Office of the Auditor-Controller is to ensure the fiscal integrity of the County's financial records and provide excellent service, assistance, and information to the public, Board of Supervisors, County Administrator's Office, County Departments and Employees, Special Districts, and some regional non-county agencies. This is an exciting time to become a part of Contra Costa County as we are currently accepting applications to fill one (1) Accountant-Auditor I vacancy within the Office of the Auditor-Controller's seven divisions. We are looking for someone who :

  • Demonstrates exceptional organizational skills and the ability to prioritize tasks effectively to meet departmental deadlines
  • Has strong communication skills, both written and verbal, which are essential for effective collaboration and ensuring clarity and understanding among team members

What you will typically be responsible for :

  • Conducting a thorough examination and analysis of a range of financial documents
  • Ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial schedules and subsidiary ledgers through the process of reconciliation and maintenance
  • Aiding in the preparation of comprehensive annual financial reports
  • Compiling and submitting Federal and State tax reports in a timely and accurate manner
  • Delivering exceptional customer service to the public and other County Departments
  • Providing valuable support in the audit of County Programs and Departments
  • Assisting in the processing of property tax refunds and the management of property tax rolls
