Position Summary :

The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) plays an essential role in delivering safe, compassionate, and efficient nursing care to patients undergoing ophthalmic surgical procedures in a high-volume outpatient setting. Under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN) or physician, the LPN provides support throughout the preoperative, intraoperative, and post-anesthesia recovery phases in compliance with clinical standards, protocols, and scope of practice.

The LPN collaborates closely with the surgical team and multidisciplinary staff, contributes to patient education, and assists with maintaining a sterile, patient-centered environment. In addition, the LPN may participate in training new clinical staff and supporting team-based care initiatives.

Job Duties & Essential Functions :

Preoperative

• Assist with patient assessments and completion of pre-surgical checklists.
• Prepare patients for surgery, including vital signs, skin prep, and comfort measures.
• Support IV initiation and preoperative medication administration under RN supervision.
• Provide education to patients and families regarding surgical process and expectations.

Intraoperative

Post-Anesthesia Recovery
