Responsibilities and Duties
Manage ambulatory cardiology patients, including pre- and post-op care for catheterization, EPS, stress testing, and TEE proceduresProvide care for TR Bands, and manage pre- and post-cath lab patientsAdminister IV medications and manage medication dripsWrite admission orders under supervising attendingAdvance care planning and obtain consentPerform arterial blood gas determinations, blood cultures, phlebotomy, venipuncture, and EKGs (performance and interpretation)Change surgical and non-surgical dressings, remove drains and central venous pressure linesInsert and manage feeding tubes, Foley catheters, nasogastric tubes, and venous linesInitiate consultation requests, CPR, and assist in codesOrder imaging studies and routine laboratory workProvide pain management and medication reconciliationMonitor vital signs and participate in interdisciplinary roundsConduct patient histories, physicals, and pre-operative medical assessmentsDeliver pre- and post-op instructions and patient educationWrite daily progress notes, discharge orders, and summariesManage patients undergoing mitral clip, ASD closures, Watchman, and related cardiac proceduresPrescribe and manage contrast prophylaxis protocolsReview and request outside cardiac reports and studiesManage direct admissions and transfers for advanced cardiac careReceive cardiac patients from the ED post-catheterization for discharge managementManage patients on antiarrhythmic therapy (e.g., Tikosyn, Sotalol)Admit patients requiring overnight monitoring and provide sign-outs to receiving teamsCollaborate daily with cardiology attendings and fellowsCover stress tests including regular, echo, exercise, and nuclear modalitiesAdditional Information
