Pesticide Application Technician FLSA Status : Non-Exempt
The Pesticide Application Technician plays a crucial role in overseeing truck operations and ensuring effective management of tasks related to pesticide application. This position requires constant communication with the Owner, Operations Manager, or Production Manager, providing updates on operations, training, and planning. The technician may also supervise crew members and manage equipment and materials efficiently.
Main Responsibilities
- Client Management
- Always represent the company with professionalism.
- Respond appropriately to client needs and ensure satisfaction with services provided.
- Communicate effectively with clients about products used and operations conducted.
- Alert the management of any client concerns that arise on-site.
- Conduct site inspections to advise clients of potential liabilities and provide necessary notices regarding applications that might affect their business operations.
- Safety Management
- Promote and maintain safe working conditions consistently.
- Ensure the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as required by safety regulations.
- Aim for zero preventable accidents by adhering to established safety protocols.
- Participate in weekly safety meetings and help educate crew members.
- Securely store all products in accordance with local, state, federal, and OSHA regulations.
- Brand Compliance
- Ensure that the service vehicle and equipment are clean, neat, and professional-looking.
- Equipment Management
- Safely operate pressurized spray equipment and other necessary field equipment.
- Maintain all assigned equipment to ensure proper functioning and compliance with maintenance schedules.
- Responsible for keeping equipment secure, clean, and in proper working order.
- Quality Control
- Utilize the Quality Control Inspection Form to report site conditions.
- Ensure all jobs meet bid specifications and retain client satisfaction for contract renewal.
- Administer treatments that enhance or protect the quality of turf and plant material.
- Field Operations
- Administer various products (fertilizers, herbicides, etc.) as per company guidelines and industry best practices.
- Set up and operate spray equipment for effective application of treatments.
- Office and Administration
- Read, interpret, and follow written and oral instructions accurately.
- Organize work schedules efficiently.
- Complete required documentation and reports for safety, quality control, and equipment maintenance.
In addition, this role will require you to keep up with industry standards and regulations, including proper handling of pesticides and safety precautions. A valid state driver's license and a clean driving record are essential. The technician should be self-reliant and capable of working independently when needed.
Typical Qualifications
To excel in this role, candidates must demonstrate effective communication skills, a commitment to safety, and the physical ability to carry out job duties, which may include lifting up to 60 pounds and working in various weather conditions.
