As we prepare to open the doors to Charleston’s newest luxury destination, we are seeking an experienced and motivated Banquet Server to join our culinary team.
JOB OVERVIEW
The Banquet Server will set up the banquet room and serve food and / or beverages in a friendly, courteous and professional manner according to Tara Hospitality’s high standards of quality.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Set up banquet room as instructed by Supervisor to include linen, service ware and glassware.
- Attend roll call meetings before events to learn functionalities, including guest and hotel expectations.
- Greeting guests and respond to requests in a friendly and courteous manner.
- Serve the food and / or beverage in order and to the expectation of the Supervisor to ensure consistency throughout the banquet. Promptly remove dishes as guests complete each course and / or meal at the end of the meal or function.
- Identify customer special dietary needs and special requests and properly communicate such needs to the kitchen staff
- Abide by all State, Federal and Corporate requirements pertaining to serving alcoholic beverages.
- Replenish beverages as necessary, and check with guests for overall satisfaction.
- Once the banquet is complete, reset banquet room according to Supervisor’s specifications to ensure the readiness of the room for the following function.
- Comply with attendance rules and be available to work on a regular basis.
- Perform any other job-related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS
Must be at least 18 years of age to serve alcoholic beveragesKnowledge of federal, state, and local liquor lawsVerbal and written ability to communicate effectively in EnglishBasic knowledge of food and beverage preparations, service standards, guest relations and etiquetteKnowledge of the appropriate table settings and service wareSelf-starting personality with an even dispositionEffectively able to work in a team environmentSuperior customer service and interpersonal skillsTips Trained and Food Handlers certification are required; training will be provided as needed.Must be able to work flexible shifts that includes mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
