Surgical Tech certification Requirements1-2 call nights per week1-2 24 hour weekend call shifts per scheduleFloat to other departments as needed Job Description / EvaluationPOSITION TITLE : Certified Surgical Technician DEPARTMENT : Surgical Services / Patient Care DivisionPOSITION SUMMARY : An integral member of the surgical team who provides support for surgeons throughout the operation by preparing, providing and caring for instruments and equipment and maintaining a sterile field.MINIMUM : High school diploma or equivalent. Graduation from a school of Surgical Technology preferred. CERTIFICATION / LICENSES : BLS certification required from AHA. Surgical Tech certification required.SKILLS : Knowledge of care and handling of instruments and equipment. Knowledge of sterilization and cleansing procedures. Ability to read, write, and communicate verbally in English.EXPERIENCE : One or more years experience in an acute care hospital setting in the operating room or an instrument care environment preferred.NATURE OF SUPERVISION : -Responsible to : Clinical Manager Operating Room and Director, Surgical Services ENVIRONMENT : - Bloodborne pathogens - CEmployee will be instructed in Universal Precautions and Right to Know. Employee will be expected to utilize all protective equipment available whenever there is a potential for exposure to infectious materials or hazardous chemicals. Cleaning, repair and replacement of this protective equipment will be furnished by the hospital. Utilizes available tools to prevent worker injuries.
