Role Overview
With Wagner, Kaplan, Duys & Wood (WKDW), Tax Managers are responsible for utilizing tax research and foundational knowledge to understand potential tax issues, gather information from clients necessary for filing, and participate in tax planning. Responsibilities
- Review / Prepare tax returns and provide constructive notes.
- Majority of clients will be individuals (1040).
- Reinforce organization and procedure amongst preparers to ensure projects remain consistent and efficient.
- Ensure clients comply with all applicable authorities, while minimizing tax costs.
- Apply understanding of client’s circumstances and ensure required filings so the client remains in full compliance with any applicable federal, state, and local authorities.
- Identify when research is needed and provide insight to preparers.
- Assist with developing, recommending, and implementing efficient and effective methods to maximize client tax benefits.
- Prepare tax returns near tax deadlines when needed to support team members.
- Collaborate with team members across multiple departments to ensure completion of projects.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a similar major.Master’s degree in Accounting or Taxation.Required only if the undergraduate degree is not in accounting or a similar major.CPA or EA license preferred.Five (5) or more years of experience in tax accounting.Two (2) or more years of reviewing tax returns.Experience using CCH Axcess, ProSystems, or similar software.Ability to follow instructions and apply review notes to future projects.Effective communication skills with both team members and clients.Proactive with tasks and projects.Seeks advice from appropriate team members regarding compliance, processes, and procedures.Benefits and Additional Notes
