[job_card.job_description]3 years of software engineering experience preferably in computational biology or biotech. Experience with AWS DevOps tools (DynamoDB EC2 S3 Docker). Experience with MLOps tools (CUDA Conda TensorFlow PyTorch). Front-end development experience with React or Vercel. Strong programming and problem-solving skills. Ability to work closely with founders and take full ownership of projects. Located in the San Francisco Bay Area or willing to relocate. Experience scaling production systems and maintaining reliability under load. Ability to learn biology-ML models quickly and apply insights to product development. Experience with AI / ML models across various architectures and environments. Prior work in drug discovery or computational biology workflows. Exposure to high-throughput computing or HPC scheduling systems. Experience with end-to-end product delivery in a startup environment. Knowledge of container orchestration tools like Kubernetes.

Advantra is partnering with an early-stage biotech software startup in San Francisco to hire a Founding Engineer to scale core infrastructure and customer-facing computational biology tools.
About the role :
You will maintain and expand the infrastructure powering drug discovery software including web interfaces and APIs. You will work directly with founders and customers to prioritize and build features that meet real needs.
Responsibilities :
- Design build and maintain web interfaces and APIs for computational biology tools.
- Scale infrastructure to support diverse customer workflows and high-performance computing tasks.
- Collaborate with founders to identify and implement key features.
- Interface directly with customers to understand needs and deliver solutions.
- Implement automation and DevOps processes for cloud and ML workloads.
- Optimize batch HPC workflows and computational pipelines.
- Contribute to technical planning and system architecture decisions.
- Maintain high reliability and performance across production systems.
- Document systems workflows and best practices.
Core requirements :
Comfort working on diverse technical problems across backend frontend and ML pipelines.
