Cashier Position

Store / Tienda #17 - Miami (10720 West Flagler Street, Miami FL 33174) - Shift / Turno : Full-Time / Tiempo Completo (Afternoon / Por la tarde) - The duties and responsibilities of the position are to be carried out in a manner that is consistent with the goals, values and operating principles of Sedano's Supermarkets, and in conformity with all laws and regulations governing the company. Every employee is to follow the policies and procedures of his / her department as well as those of the company to ensure smooth operations. Every employee, regardless of job title, is responsible for ensuring a safe environment throughout the store. This includes, but is not limited to immediately securing an area when a hazardous situation occurs, promptly informing the store manager of the situation, and / or promptly taking action to remove the hazardous condition. Every employee must also maintain a friendly attitude, wear the proper uniform or dress code, keep the store stocked and organized, and provide excellent customer service on a regular basis.

Cashiers provide excellent customer service while accurately processing customer purchases.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities :

• Politely greet customers with a smile and provide excellent customer service; attend to customers' needs calling for manager or supervisor when necessary
• Promptly scan products or weigh produce being purchased; operate cash register accurately and efficiently accepting all forms of payment and provide the correct change when appropriate
• Maintain cash drawer with sufficient currency and coins
• Count out cash drawer at the beginning and end of a shift
• Conduct price checks when necessary
• Place items in bags for customers; assist with loading into shopping cart when necessary
• Return discarded items back to shelves when necessary
• Keep the conveyor belt, scanner, scale and counter clean at all times
• Assist with keeping the front of the store clean, organized, and free from safety hazards
• When requested or scheduled, straighten out displays and shelves of merchandise (a / k / a "facing")
• Attend and / or participate in store or department meetings
• Punctuality and good attendance in compliance with company policies; ensures work responsibilities are covered during foreseeable absences
• Performs other work-related duties as required to accomplish the objectives of the position

The individual performs duties in a grocery store environment. He or she maintains frequent contact with supervisors, employees and customers. The noise level in the work environment is low to moderate.

In this position, there is the possibility of using scales, shopping carts and cleaning supplies and equipment.
