Senior Fund Accountant

About the Role
This position reports to the Fund Accounting Manager and supports the day‑to‑day accounting, reporting, and financial management of CapRock’s investment funds and joint ventures. In this role, the Senior Fund Accountant will partner with and oversee CapRock’s third‑party fund administrator. Primary responsibilities include (but are not limited to) :
- Review capital call and distribution calculations, as well as related investor notices.
- Review management fee calculations based on each fund’s governing documents.
- Assist with fund treasury management – opening fund bank accounts, overseeing account transfers, and processing external wire payments.
- Review line‑of‑credit draws and paydown requests.
- Oversee monthly general ledger close process and review related reconciliations and workpapers. Ensure strict reporting deadline adherence.
- Navigate complex governing documents and agreements (limited partnership agreements, JV agreements, etc.) to ensure adherence to contractual requirements and appropriate accounting.
- Assist in preparing and issuing quarterly and annual financial statements in accordance with US GAAP for investment companies, and prepare fund performance reporting supplements.
- Support annual financial statement audits – work directly with external auditors to facilitate audit procedures.
- Assist with ad‑hoc investor and lender reporting requests.
Tax Reporting
Support the Tax Manager and external tax firm during preparation of annual tax returns and investor K‑1s.Assist with administrative and operational matters pertaining to fund subsidiaries structured as Real Estate Investment Trust (“REITs”), including preparation of quarterly REIT compliance testing.Financial Planning and Modeling
Prepare and maintain fund‑level cash flow models used to forecast fund performance and assist in capital planning.Assist with implementation of fund expense budgeting practices and monitor budget versus actual results.What You Need to Succeed
Must possess a four‑year college degree with a major in accounting.Minimum 3 years of prior accounting work experience; public accounting or similar roles preferred.Prior experience with private‑equity funds preferred; real‑estate experience is a plus.CPA preferred, but not required.Experience with Yardi is a plus.Private company / in‑house experience not required (applicants directly out of public accounting are welcome).General investment company (ASC 946) knowledge is a plus.Extreme attention to detail and ability to think critically.Proficient in Microsoft Office suite.Strong verbal and written communication skills.Terms / Expected Hours of Work
