Senior Accountant - JARS Cannabis

JARS Cannabis is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Senior Accountant to join our fast-paced and rapidly evolving team. This position plays a key role in driving accurate and timely month-end close processes, while also providing strategic support to the Controller and leading continuous improvement across the accounting function.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Month-End Close :

Prepare and post month-end journal entries including accruals, amortization, lease entries, and other necessary adjustments.

  • Reconcile bank accounts and tie out inventory balances across multiple entities.
  • Ensure the accuracy and integrity of the general ledger through thorough review and analysis.
  • Project Management & Financial Analysis :

    • Assist in the preparation of monthly financial statements and internal reporting packages.

  • Support audit preparation by maintaining organized records and detailed reconciliations.
  • Lead or support special projects such as process improvements, system enhancements, or data clean-up initiatives.
  • Partner with the Controller on ad hoc financial analysis and expense reviews to drive business insights.
  • Systems & Process Improvement :

    • Work within Sage Intacct to perform day-to-day accounting functions, create dashboards, and enhance reporting efficiency.

  • Identify areas for automation and recommend best practices to streamline operations.
  • Team Leadership & Oversight :

    • Oversee daily activities of accounting staff to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and alignment with company policies.

  • Provide training, feedback, and support to help elevate team performance and knowledge.
  • Act as a resource and problem-solver for junior team members, fostering a collaborative and growth-oriented environment.

    • Qualifications :

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.
  • Minimum of 2-4 years of progressive accounting experience, ideally in a multi-entity environment.
  • Proficiency in Sage Intacct or similar ERP systems strongly preferred.
  • Strong understanding of GAAP, financial reporting, and reconciliation processes.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Experience in cannabis or similarly regulated industries is a plus.

The ideal candidate thrives in a dynamic, fast-paced environment and adapts quickly as the company grows and evolves. You should be equally comfortable getting into the details of journal entries as you are stepping back to analyze the big picture.
