Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Cardiac Telemetry position, requiring 2 years of cardiac telemetry experience and active NC or compact RN license.
Responsibilities
Work in the Cardiac Telemetry Unit of a hospital environmentPrimary patient population includes cardiac and stroke patients, pre- and post-procedurePatient ratios are typically 1 : 5-6, with surge potential up to 6 patients per nurseNight shift position, 12-hour shifts from 18 : 45 to 07 : 15, three nights per weekWeekend schedule requires every other weekend, plus select Mondays and FridaysUnit admits stable post-pacemaker, defibrillator, and cath patients, as well as post-interventional vascular casesHandles cardiac drips (Cardizem, Dopamine, Amiodarone) and telemetry monitoringTeam lead available to assist with admissions and dischargesFloat to other units required as neededOn-call responsibilities depend on patient censusUnit uses Pyxis, Dimensions (Epic), and SBAR for documentation and communicationCOVID-positive patients are cared for within a designated section of the unit using opti-flow and BIPAPSelf-scheduling is utilized, with leadership oversightDuties include managing telemetry, titrating cardiac drips, and providing care to post-procedure cardiac and stroke patientsSupport from a team lead is provided for admissions and discharges36-hour hospital orientation required; must be available every day during week oneScrubs must be navy blue, white, or a mixture; jackets must match material and colorCOVID-positive patients may be admitted depending on unit needsNo block scheduling permittedRTO (time off) after booking is not allowed; call-offs or additional RTO may result in contract cancellationRequirements
Active NC or compact state RN licenseMinimum of 2 years recent cardiac telemetry experience with similar acuity and ratiosCurrent certifications in ACLS, BLS, and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)Experience with IV start, telemetry, cardiac drips, and pre- and post-procedure cardiac careMust pass EKG testing prior to startFirst-time travelers acceptedMust be comfortable in a fast-paced environment with rapid patient turnoverBenefits
