The Sr. Maintenance Technician Refrigeration & Equipment is responsible for maintaining, repairing, and optimizing production machinery, ammonia refrigeration systems, HVAC, boilers, and related utilities. This position is critical in reducing downtime, supporting production goals, and ensuring compliance with safety and food safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
Equipment Maintenance & Troubleshooting
- Perform inspections, preventative maintenance, and repairs on production lines and utility systems.
- Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical, electrical, and refrigeration issues.
- Calibrate sensors, rebuild pumps, and complete preventive maintenance on compressors.
- Maintain boilers, cooling towers, and ammonia refrigeration systems.
Production Support
Conduct equipment setups and changeovers.Collaborate with production teams to ensure machinery supports output goals.Provide technical support and training to operators on equipment use.Documentation & Compliance
Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, inspections, and system logs.Adhere to GMPs, OSHA protocols, and company safety policies.Monitor and maintain chemical levels in accordance with operational standards.Team Support & Inventory Management
Train junior mechanics and operators on proper equipment handling.Manage spare parts inventory and coordinate reorders with purchasing.Prioritize and complete assigned work orders based on urgency and production impact.Skills & Requirements
CIRO Certified (Certified Industrial Refrigeration Operator).Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills.10–15 years of experience with ammonia refrigeration, HVAC, and boiler systems.Strong Spanish Speaking SkillsProficiency in Microsoft Office and maintenance software (e.g., MaintainX).Ability to read schematics and utilize diagnostic tools.Knowledge of NFPA 70E safety standards.Dependable, organized, and proactive in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.Qualifications
Education : High school diploma or GED required; technical certifications in CIRO or industrial maintenance preferred.Experience : Minimum 10–15 years in manufacturing maintenance, with at least 10 years focused on ammonia systems.Spanish and English SpeakingOther : Valid driver's license; ability to travel if required.Physical Requirements
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.Frequent standing, walking, bending, and climbing.Must be able to work in hot / cold conditions and noisy environments.Visual abilities including close, distance, and depth perception.Job Type : Full-time
