Freelance Portuguese-English Over-the-Phone Interpreter

Project Summary

Lionbridge is seeking self-starting freelance Over-the-Phone Interpreters for ongoing interpretation projects across industries such as Legal, Healthcare and Government. Over-the-Phone Interpreters for Lionbridge are responsible for handling calls on demand to correctly identify and provide meaning in conversations between speakers of two different languages.

What You Will Do

• Accept and take ownership of on-demand incoming calls and conversations
• Identify the meaning of conversations across two different language types while remaining current, courteous, and professional on sensitive subjects across differing cultures and locations
• Receive projects typically presented in the from of three-way calls, lasting roughly 10-30 minutes each during regular US business hours
• Receive training on and use appropriate industry terminology, displaying common industry procedures and practices

To Be Successful You Will Have

• Advanced abilities in Portuguese and English (spoken)
• Exceptional memory retention, note-taking, and communication skills in the appropriate language(s)
• The ability to complete and pass a language assessment in the languages you will be assigned to
• Prior experience in Interpretation or Language Services is a plus, but not required
