Examples of Duties
The English and Literary Studies (ENLS) program at Ramapo College is currently seeking a tenure-track Assistant Professor specializing in rhetoric / composition, critical pedagogy, composition pedagogy, English education, curriculum studies, and / or critical literacy. Secondary specializations / certifications in TESOL, SESL, TEFL, and multicultural education are welcome. The candidate should have a PhD in Rhetoric / Composition or a related field.
The candidate will work closely with the campus writing center in efforts to recruit and train tutors and supplemental instructors. The candidate will also coordinate with our Teacher Education program to increase the number of students in the secondary education track of our major. The ideal candidate will have experience or promise in building bridges between colleges and K- schools. The desired candidate will work to connect these programs and to serve these students by developing courses and extracurricular programming (e.g., workshops for local high school teachers). The candidate would teach foursections of Critical Reading and Writing (CRWT) each year. The othertwo courses may include : LITR : Grammar, Theory, and Pedagogy, LITR : Writing : Theory, and Pedagogy, as well as new related courses developed by the candidate, according to programmatic needs.
Qualifications
PhD in Rhetoric / Composition or a related field is required.
