Role Overview
The Field Application Engineer (FAE) acts as the technical partner to the business development director, opening the market and serving as the liaison between AAPG manufacturing operations and its customers. This role supports the sales cycle from concept to production, ensuring that customer requirements are translated into innovative and manufacturable interconnect solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the technical lead within the sales team, supporting all engineering aspects of the customer engagement lifecycle, in tandem with the group business development director’s commercial engagement.
- Collaborate with customers to understand application requirements and propose tailored interconnect solutions.
- Provide design-in support, prototyping guidance, and troubleshooting assistance.
- Develop and deliver technical presentations and documentation.
- Interface with internal teams of the AAPG operations including product development, marketing, and manufacturing.
- Support new product introductions (NPI) and contribute to product differentiation strategies.
- Travel up to 30% domestically, with occasional international travel.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Automotive Systems, Mechatronic, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or a related technical field.
- Minimum 2+ years of experience in design or applications engineering, preferably in automotive or interconnect solutions.
- Strong understanding of automotive standards and protocols (e.g., USCAR, ISO, Data Communication (Ethernet IEEE, Coax)).
- Proficiency in CAD tools (e.g., Creo, SolidWorks).
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple customer projects.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with E-Mobility (high-voltage and ruggedized connectors, EV battery, vehicle charging).
- Familiarity vehicle communication system, ADAS, or infotainment systems.
- Master’s degree or additional certifications in automotive electronics or systems engineering.
