We have a current opportunity for a
Contract, Manufacturing Engineer (willing to consider all levels) for a period of up to 6 months, located in Littleton, CO. In this role you will be supporting development, production, quality, and continuous improvement efforts relating to the manufacturing of space hardware (cameras, cables & harnesses, electrical boxes, power distribution systems, etc.).
Responsibilities - Develop, implement, maintain, and improve manufacturing processes for a variety of space flight hardware products.
- Complete readiness assessments and ensure the successful new product launches into production.
- Develop and maintain production documentation (work instructions, test procedures, etc.)
- Support quality and continuous improvement through root cause analysis and the implementation of effective corrective and preventative actions (including repair and rework).
- Establish methods to overcome production process challenges.
- Multi-tasking and active engagement in the production environment.
- Must be a self-starter with the ability to work independently and collaboratively to execute tasks under general direction.
- Maintain process equipment needed to manufacture products.
- Ensure processes and procedures comply with industry standards.
- Identify risks to production and implement mitigation plans.
- Assists production personnel with troubleshooting and guidance resolving everyday issues.
- Participate in daily standup meetings to ensure daily goals are met as needed.
- Perform other duties as necessary.
Ideal Experience - B.S. in STEM or other related discipline.
- Relevant experience may be considered in lieu of education.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in manufacturing environments (preferably Aerospace, Defense or Space).
- Experience providing manufacturing floor support.
- Experience reading and understanding technical documents.
- Experience working in multi-disciplinary teams.
- Experience with new product introduction and transition to production.
- Understanding of technical standards, theories, concepts, and techniques in manufacturing.
- US Citizen or US Person as defined by ITAR Regulations
Desired Skills - Solid understanding of printed circuit board assembly, electronic enclosure and wire harness development, manufacture and quality control consistent with IPC standards.
- Experience with (drafting/editing releasing) instructions in Epsilon3 (web-based Process & Resource Management tool)
- Experience in an AS9100 quality system.
- Understanding of lean manufacturing techniques and practices.
- Experience building positive relationships, communicating across functional and physical boundaries, managing cost, schedule, quality, and safety.
- Experience determining the most efficient sequence of operations by analyzing production costs, process flow charts, and production schedules.
- Experience in design for manufacturability, yield improvements, supplier capability assessments, quality control, etc.
- Experience in manufacturing execution systems and writing work instructions.
- Desire to build a lean manufacturing environment from the ground up.
Compensation: $42 - 72/hour
