Field Service Engineer - Marine Power Systems Job Summary
A leading global provider of industrial power and automation solutions is seeking an experienced Field Service Engineer - Power Systems to support commissioning, troubleshooting, and maintenance of low and medium voltage power distribution and control systems onboard vessels and in shipyard environments. This role is critical to ensuring safe and effective delivery and support of advanced marine power systems during construction, upgrades, and at-sea operations.
Field Service Engineer - Marine Power Systems Responsibilities
- Independently perform installation and commissioning of power distribution and control systems during vessel construction projects
- Troubleshoot complex system issues during port visits or offshore, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions
- Execute a broad range of engineering tasks to maintain technical standards and ensure correct system installation
- Support internal engineering teams in project execution and modernization efforts
- Assist proposal and bid development for customer system upgrade projects
- Provide on-call and emergency service support as needed
- Complete and submit service documentation, reports, and administrative deliverables in a timely manner
- Adhere to all customer and internal safety protocols when working onboard vessels or in shipyard environments
- Work overtime and extended hours during peak workloads and emergency support events
- Travel frequently, both domestically and internationally, for extended periods
Field Service Engineer - Marine Power Systems Position Requirements
High School Diploma or equivalent with 15+ years of field service experience related to power systems and control technologyMinimum 3 years' experience in commissioning or field service roles involving power systemsU.S. Citizenship and the ability to obtain a security clearance for Department of Defense contractsMust be able to travel up to 85%, often with short noticeCapable of boarding ships offshore and meeting physical demands of marine / industrial environmentsMust pass offshore safety certifications including HUET (Helicopter Underwater Escape Training) and survival trainingComfortable working in industrial, construction-type settings subject to noise, heat, cold, wet / humid conditions, and moving machineryUse of personal protective equipment (PPE) is mandatory on-siteField Service Engineer - Marine Power Systems Preferred Position Requirements
Associate or Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline (or equivalent combination of education and experience)Deep technical knowledge in :LV / MV Switchgear and MCCs
