Pay Information

$125 to $150 per hour

About The Position

Seeking an experienced Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery Physician Assistant for locum tenens coverage in Dover, DE. Starting January 2026, this role offers a 3–6 month availability with a competitive market rate and ongoing coverage. Open to licensing new candidates!

Location :  Dover, Delaware

Start Date :  January 5, 2026

Duration :  3–6 months

Schedule :

Four weekday shifts per week :

  • Two 7 : 00 AM – 7 : 00 PM shifts
  • Two 7 : 00 AM – 3 : 00 PM shifts

Call coverage :

  • 1–2 weekday nights (Monday–Thursday, 7 : 00 PM – 7 : 00 AM)
  • 1 in 3 weekends (Friday 7 : 00 PM – Monday 7 : 00 AM)

    • Key Responsibilities :

  • Post-operative patient resuscitation in CVSICU
  • Respond to stat consults and changes in clinical status
  • Assist with emergent OR cases
  • Manage nursing and patient calls from home during call periods
  • Weekend inpatient rounding
  • Perform endoscopic and open vein harvest (EVH) and chest tube placement
  • EVH capability (open and endoscopic)
  • Ability to manage high-acuity cases independently

    • EMR :  EPIC

    Support Staff :  Surgeons, APCs, nursing team

    Patient Encounters : 10–20 per shift

    Job Requirements

    Requirements :

    Active DE license or open to licensing new candidates.

    Cardiothoracic / vascular surgery experience

    ACLS and BLS certifications
