Job Description :

The Nebraska Judicial Branch is seeking an energetic professional for our Director of Communications & Public Information. The Judicial Branch is a state-funded Branch of Government that offers medical / dental / vision, $20,000 free basic life insurance, state-matched 156% retirement plan, 13 paid holidays, earned paid vacation and sick leave, and more.

This position is responsible for creating and implementing a communications vision and strategy on behalf of the Judicial Branch, serving as a liaison between the Judicial Branch and the public. This includes business executives and high-ranking government officials. Responsibilities include statewide strategic oversight and day-to-day performance of media and public information, community outreach / education, and publications. Oversee internal / external communications, law-related education, and direct management of the communications division. Includes information dissemination on all communication platforms, through newsletters, press releases, memorandums, etc.

Duties include :

Serves as the media liaison / spokesperson for the Nebraska Judicial Branch in response to inquiries and requests from the media and the public.

Creates, produces, oversees, and implements audio, video, print and web content (including brochures and newsletters) for the Judicial Branch.

Plans, develops, prioritizes, and directs implementation of Judicial Branch digital communications activities and processes to ensure that communications goals in support of Judicial Branch strategic needs are attained.

Partners with all levels of internal / external stakeholders develop strategic marketing plans for initiatives and programming and meet with internal stakeholders to review current practices and ensure communications needs are met, i.e., creating and implementing new initiatives.

Plan and implement a communications vision and strategy. Assess and report on the effectiveness of communication strategies.

Ensures integrity and quality of Judicial Branch digital and printed publications in compliance with accepted best practices and internal standards; identifies and resolves any issues with promotional content.

Requirements / Qualifications :

Minimum Qualifications :

Bachelor's degree in journalism, communications, publication management, or related field; and 7 years related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job, such as those listed above.

Preferred Qualifications :

The above, plus a Juris Doctorate or a master's degree in journalism, communications, or publication management, is preferred or related field.

KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS

• Applicable Federal, State, and local laws and regulations;
• Courtroom practices and procedures;
• Knowledge of marketing and advertising principles and practices;
• Legal document preparation techniques;
• Knowledge of social media marketing and strategies;
• Knowledge of analytical reporting tools;
• Knowledge of HTML, CSS, and content management platform utilization;
• Knowledge of analytical reporting tools;

Computers and applicable software applications.

SKILL REQUIREMENTS

Refined communication and interpersonal skills; must be able to interact with coworkers, supervisors, general public, etc., sufficiently to exchange or convey information and receive work direction.

Sedentary Work :

Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and / or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met.
