Summary / Objective

The Deputy Constable for Smith County Precinct 1 Constable's Office was created to assist in the service of civil process in the evening hours, patrolling the precinct, answering calls, assisting local agencies and enforcing state law.

Precinct 1 Constable's Office is very committed to our community, and we are looking for an individual to add to our team that will give 100% service to our citizens.

Working hours will fluctuate Monday through Friday between the hours of 8 : 00am to 8 : 00pm, and some weekends to help assist.

Incentives include paid TCOLE training, furnished uniforms, patrol duty vehicles (with in Smith County limits) and furnished assigned office equipment.

This position will be available starting on 10 / 01 / 2025

Duties and Responsibilities

• Serve Civil Process Documents issued by the JP Court, County Court, and District Court.
• Serves as a bailiff to the Smith County Precinct 1 Justice of the Peace while court is in session as needed.
• Patrols Precinct 1 and provides law enforcement services to the citizens. Answers 9-1-1 calls for service and assist other local agencies.
• Inspect residential neighborhoods and businesses for activity to prevent theft and burglary.

Must be able to physically subdue violent criminals. Must be able to walk, run, and climb.

RETIREMENT

Employees are eligible to retire : after 20 years of service regardless of age, at age 60 with at least 8 years of service or when age plus service equals 75 (with a minimum of 4 years of service).
