High School Diploma / Equivalency required. 6 months experience minimum working within an EMR system and with the process of rooming patients required. Current BLS certification for healthcare providers preferred; required within 90 days of employment (Will accept BLS from any association). Experience in primary care, family practice, internal medicine, urgent care or ER preferred. Paid Sick Leave (Medix provides paid sick leave according to state and local sick leave ordinances). Health Benefits / Dental / Vision (Medix offers 6 different health plans : 3 Major Medical Plans, 2 Fixed Indemnity Plans (Standard and Preferred), and 1 Minimum Essential Coverage (MEC) Plan. Eligibility for health benefits is based on verifying that an average of 30 hours per week during the first 4 weeks of the work assignment has been met. If you meet eligibility requirements and take action to enroll, you will be covered no earlier than 60 days into your assignment, depending on plan selection(s)). 401k (Eligible on the first 401k open enrollment date following 6 consecutive months on assignment. 401k Open Enrollment dates are 1 / 1, 4 / 1, 7 / 1, and 10 / 1). This position involves both clinical and administrative duties to support our five providers and ensure the highest level of foot health for our patients. You'll work closely with two other MAs, two Medical Receptionists, and the Site Facilitator in a fast-paced environment.
Job Summary
As a Medical Assistant, you will be responsible for providing patient support and communication and facilitating an exceptional patient experience to build and reinforce satisfaction, trust, and drive organizational loyalty. Accountable for welcoming and preparing the patient for their appointment, the Medical Assistant informs patients of relevant and required information for their visit and provides clear communication around the services they are scheduled to receive
Responsibilities / Job Duties
- Performs sutures & staples , changing of wound dressings , and other patient care activities including assisting with x-rays and performing on and off castings .
- Collects and documents vitals and med history .
- Authorizes prescription refills as directed.
- Prepares patients, room, and supplies for visits or examinations.
- Performs administrative duties including charting, putting in orders , requesting of medical records , and performing prior authorizations (navigating online insurance portals).
- Cleans and maintains treatment rooms and equipment.
- Expected to room 15-20 patients / day .
- Other duties as assigned.
