Job Summary :

We are seeking a Pension Processor Clerk with strong telephone and communication skills to assist participants with their pension benefits in a Taft-Hartley multi-employer benefit fund. This role involves processing pension applications, answering participant inquiries, and ensuring compliance with pension plan rules and federal regulations. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, professional, and able to provide clear and accurate information to retirees, beneficiaries, and union members.

Primary Responsibilities :

• Answer phone calls and assist participants with questions regarding pension benefits, eligibility, and application status.
• Process pension applications, retirement distributions, and benefit adjustments in compliance with plan guidelines.
• Review submitted retirement documents, birth certificates, marriage licenses, and employment history to verify eligibility.
• Maintain and update participant records in the system, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality.
• Communicate with participants, beneficiaries, union representatives, and financial institutions to provide pension information.
• Assist participants with direct deposit setup, tax withholding elections, and beneficiary updates.
• Research and resolve pension payment discrepancies, missing contributions, and eligibility issues.
• Prepare and mail pension statements, benefit determination letters, and plan documents to participants.
• Ensure compliance with ERISA, IRS, and Department of Labor (DOL) pension regulations.
• Support the appeals and benefit calculation process by gathering required documentation and preparing reports.

Minimum Qualifications :

• High school diploma or GED.
• 1+ years of experience in pension administration, benefits processing, customer service, or clerical work.
• Strong telephone etiquette and communication skills with the ability to explain pension benefits clearly.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook) and data entry systems.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to handle confidential participant information with professionalism and discretion.
• Excellent organizational and follow-up skills.

Preferred Qualifications :

• Associates or Bachelors degree in Business Administration or a related field.
• Experience working with Taft-Hartley multi-employer pension funds or union pension plans.
• Knowledge of ERISA, IRS pension regulations, and retirement benefit calculations.
• Bilingual in Spanish or Polish (preferred but not required).
• Experience handling high call volumes in a customer service or pension administration setting
