Summary :
The Systems Engineer is responsible for the design, administration, security, and ongoing operation of Gila River Development’s technology environment, including servers, network systems, end-user devices, and Microsoft 365 services across corporate offices, venues, event locations and stores. This role works closely with other IT team members to maintain reliable system performance, respond to incidents, and support daily business operations and scheduled events. The position requires strong technical expertise, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, high-availability environment.
Responsibilities :
Infrastructure & Systems Administration :
- Design, deploy, and maintain on-premises and cloud-based servers and services, including Windows Server, VMware, storage, and Active Directory.
- Administer Active Directory, Azure Active Directory, Group Policy, and identity management services.
- Maintain reliable operation of servers, workstations, phones, and core network services.
- Configure and manage Microsoft 365, Exchange Online, Teams, and Intune.
- Manage system performance, uptime, backups, and disaster recovery processes.
Security & Data Protection :
Design and implement server, system, and network security using industry best practices.Manage MFA, conditional access, endpoint protection, patching, and vulnerability mitigation.Ensure compliance with GRD IT security policies and data protection standards.Support security tools and firewalls (e.g., SonicWall, Dell security solutions).Monitoring, Troubleshooting & Support :
Monitor system performance and proactively identify issues.Provide Tier 2 and Tier 3 support for escalated server, network, and Microsoft 365 issues.Troubleshoot hardware, software, networking, VoIP, and application-related problems.Support outages, urgent incidents, and after-hours critical events when required.Microsoft & Cloud Services :
Administer Microsoft technologies including M365, Azure AD, Exchange Online, and Windows Server.Manage SSO, MFA, user provisioning, and conditional access.Support hybrid environments integrating on-premises and cloud systems.User & Device Management :
Set up and maintain user accounts, permissions, and workstations.Train and assist users on new or updated software and systems.Support remote access, mobile devices, and collaboration tools.Vendor & Project Coordination :
Coordinate with external vendors for hardware, software, and system repairs or upgrades.Participate in infrastructure refreshes, migrations, and system improvement initiatives.Recommend solutions that improve system reliability, efficiency, and user experience.Documentation & Continuous Improvement :
Maintain technical documentation, system configurations, and support procedures.Keep current on new technologies and pursue ongoing professional development and certifications.Identify opportunities to modernize and optimize IT systems.Other Duties :

Working Conditions :
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Work will primarily be performed in an office environment.
Work will be performed both inside and outside on a regular basis, in most weather conditions.Noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.Evening, weekend, and holiday shifts are required as a normal part of this position.Occasional local day travel, Local travel to managed businesses.
Physical Demands :
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, and walk extended period. The employee occasionally is required to bend, climb, stoop, lift, carry, push, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and / or move 15 pounds, and occasionally lift and / or move up to 25 pounds.
Required Qualifications :
Associate’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field or (4) four years professional experience in systems administration or infrastructure engineering)(4) Four years of experience in systems administration or infrastructure engineering.(3) Three years supporting Windows Server, Active Directory, and Group Policy in a production environment.(2) Two years administering Microsoft 365 and Exchange Online.Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as required for client meetings and events.Valid AZ driver’s license, provide a 39-month satisfactory MVR report.Obtain a Tribal operator driving permit at the time of hire.A satisfactory result obtained through a test for illegal drugs.Acknowledge and agree to maintain a drug-free workplace.Preferred Qualifications :
Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or a related field.Industry certifications such as; Microsoft (M365, Azure, Windows Server), VMware, Security+ or similar security certifications.Experience supporting VMware or similar virtualization platforms.Strong understanding of networking fundamentals (DNS, DHCP, TCP / IP, VPNs, firewalls).Experience managing system patching, backups, and recovery.Ability to troubleshoot and resolve Tier 2 and Tier 3 infrastructure issues.Ability to provide after-hours support for outages and critical business events.Knowledge and experience working with Gila River Indian Community or other Native American Communities.Proficient in MS office and other relevant workplace tools.
