Controller We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Controller to join our client’s Finance team. As the senior accounting leader, you will own the full accounting function, serve as the primary champion for financial systems and automation, and be a trusted advisor to the CFO and executive team. This is a hands-on leadership role that requires technical accounting expertise, a deep understanding of financial software ecosystems, and the ability to scale processes as the business grows.The Controller opportunity is a full time, direct hire role requiring a hybrid work schedule and based in downtown Raleigh. Responsibilities of the Controller :
- Lead and oversee all accounting functions, including contract to revenue recognition, income statement, balance sheet accounts, payroll, benefits, accounts payable, and expenses.
- Architect and maintain the financial software systems, driving integrations, syncing, and automation to improve efficiency.
- Manage and direct the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with GAAP.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax requirements while maintaining audit readiness.
- Design, implement, and maintain a robust internal control framework to safeguard financial integrity and mitigate risk.
- Partner with employees and managers across departments to collect, review, approve, and troubleshoot expenses and reimbursements.
- Support Revenue Operations and FP&A functions.
- Gather, analyze, and present financial reporting, budgets, and spending insights to the CFO, leadership, and key stakeholders.
Requirements for the Controller :
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA required).6+ years of progressive accounting / finance experience, with at least 2 years in a Controller or senior accounting leadership role.Expertise in U.S. GAAP, tax compliance, and audit readiness.Proven ability to optimize financial systems, ERP platforms, and accounting software integrations.Strong leadership and organizational skills with the ability to scale processes for a growing SaaS or technology-driven business.Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to partner effectively with executives and cross-functional teams.Strongly preference for : Track record of leading finance automation initiatives and improving efficiency through software and process innovation.Experience scaling finance operations in multi-entity / multi-product environments and B2B SaaS accounting.Demonstrated ability to provide clear, data-driven reporting and insights to executive teams.Comfortable learning, implementing, and using new accounting / finance software.Strong change management and problem-solving skills with a bias for action.Experience with international subsidiaries is a plus
