Job Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced Emergency Department RN with strong Level I or II trauma experience for a night shift role requiring VA or compact RN licensure.
Responsibilities
Work in a large Emergency Department at a Level I trauma center with 73 rooms and 24 hallway bedsNight shift schedule from 7 : 00 PM to 7 : 00 AM, 12-hour shiftsPatient population includes stroke, STEMI, and trauma cases without direct trauma care responsibilitiesAverage patient census is 350 per dayNo separate fast track area; non-acute patients are seen in a designated part of the EDFloating required to offsite EDs in Fairfax City (10 beds) and Reston / Herndon area (7 beds)On-call requirement of 1-2 shifts per 6-week schedule periodMust work one major and one minor holiday per assignmentUses Epic EMRResponsibilities include care of stroke, STEMI, and trauma patients, medical clearance of psych patients, and collaboration with security and sitters for behavioral needsNo psych holds; patients are medically cleared and admittedTeam includes security staff and sitters for suicidal patientsFirst-time travelers considered if requirements metHoliday coverage is required as part of the roleScrub or dress code details are not specifiedRequirements
Active VA or compact RN license requiredMinimum 2 years of Emergency Department nursing experienceRecent Level I or II trauma experience requiredCurrent BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, TNCC, and CPI certifications requiredEpic EMR experience highly preferredPrevious travel experience highly preferredBenefits
