Contracts Analyst
The Contracts Analyst supports hospital operations by analyzing, implementing, and maintaining physician and clinical services contractual arrangements. This includes professional services agreements (PSAs), medical directorships, call coverage, telemedicine, clinical co-management, and other hospitalphysician arrangements. The analyst ensures terms are correctly reflected in internal systems (e.g., contract management, accounting, scheduling), supports Fair Market Value documentation, conducts payment and performance audits, and provides analytical insight to hospital leadership, Finance, and Clinical Service Lines.
The stated pay scale reflects the range that Sharp reasonably expects to pay for this position. The actual pay rate and pay grade for this position will be dependent on a variety of factors, including an applicant's years of experience, unique skills and abilities, education, alignment with similar internal candidates, marketplace factors, other requirements for the position, and employer business practices.
Required Qualifications
- 3 Years administrative experience to include accounting, finance, and/or contracting.
- 2 Years experience in a hospital, health system, or clinical operations environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with physician payment process, fair market value documentation and contract management systems.
Other Qualification Requirements
- Bachelor's degree; or 4 years administrative or relevant experience may substitute for degree. - REQUIRED
Essential Functions
- Contracting Support Supports hospital leadership with the data and documentation required for physician and clinical services contract development, renewal, and negotiation. Prepares financial and operational analyses to evaluate contract performance against budget and service-line needs. Maintains communication across Finance, Physician Services, Medical Staff Administration, and Clinical Operations to ensure reimbursement terms, service obligations, and reporting requirements are understood and followed. Coordinates with Legal and Compliance on contract interpretation, regulatory risk (Stark/AKS), and appropriate documentation of services performed (e.g., medical director time logs). Generates and maintains Contract Verification Forms (CVFs), contract summaries, and internal implementation documentation for every hospital physician and clinical services contract.
- Contract Implementation and Maintenance Ensures agreement termsincluding compensation rates, coverage schedules, service deliverables, and performance metricsare accurately implemented in contract management and accounting systems, and aligned with operational workflows (e.g., scheduling, timekeeping). Partners with Finance and Physician Services to ensure accurate processing of physician stipends and reconciles supporting documentation. Monitors regulatory requirements and fair market value standards to keep operational activities compliant. Maintains contract matrices, term schedules, expiration alerts, and renewal workflows across hospital physician and clinical services agreements.
- Audits Performs regular audits of physician payments, service logs, coverage schedules, and deliverables to confirm compliance with agreement terms. Identifies variances or compliance gaps and partners with Finance and service-line leaders to resolve issues. Supports internal/external regulatory audits related to physician arrangements, documentation standards, and fair market value validation.
- Other Duties Assists in cross-departmental projects involving Medical Staff Administration, Quality, Service Lines (e.g., ED, Trauma, Hospitalist, Anesthesia), Emergency Services, and Clinical Operations. Maintains a strong customer-service orientation in supporting hospital leaders and physician partners. Develops and maintains productive relationships with contracted physicians and groups to ensure timely resolution of contractual inquiries. Completes other duties as assigned within agreed-upon timelines.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Ability to interpret physician and clinical services contract terms, including compensation structures, regulatory compliance standards, and service deliverables.
- Strong understanding of hospital operations, clinical services workflows, on-call schedules, and medical directorship reporting.
- Ability to analyze and reconcile payment data, service logs, and performance metrics.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills for engaging with physicians and hospital leadership.
- Ability to maintain positive working relationships with clinical leaders, physician groups, and administrative partners.
