Description :
The Registered Nurse applies knowledge of nursing theory, technical skills, and communication in delivering high-quality compassionate care.
The Registered Professional Nurse assesses patient needs and develops a plan of care in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team.
Direct care is provided while evaluating patient progress and coordinating care delivery throughout the patient’s episode.
The RN develops specialized skills while caring for patients admitted for medical conditions.
Care is provided to adult, adolescent, and geriatric populations with a variety of medical conditions.
Patient and family education is essential to assist in understanding self-care beyond hospitalization.
This includes lifestyle changes that support health and healing.
The Registered Nurse is accountable for promoting comfort and providing emotional support in a healing environment.
Nursing knowledge and skills are applied in the delivery of care.
Patient and family needs are assessed through active listening and social perceptiveness.
A developmentally appropriate and culturally relevant individualized plan of care is created.
Goals are set in collaboration with the patient, family, physician, and healthcare team members while monitoring progress.
The plan is adjusted based on patient response or changes in condition as needed.
Advocating for and protecting the health, safety, and rights of the patient is vital.
Building trust, respect, and cooperation among team members is encouraged to achieve the best patient outcomes.
Patient and family motivation is enhanced through education focused on continuing care and healing at home.
Learning styles are assessed to structure education sessions for maximum understanding while encouraging retention of key points.
Tools and information are provided to assist the family post-discharge.
Quality and effectiveness of nursing practice are evaluated to initiate improvements in care delivery.
Self-evaluation of practice is engaged to identify strengths and areas for professional development.
Meaningful connections with patients and families are fundamental to nursing practice.
A helping, trusting, and caring relationship is developed by being present during interactions and anticipating needs.
Creating a healing environment is a key element of professional nursing practice.
Skill in medication administration and other interventions is demonstrated.
Occupational exposure to bloodborne pathogens is anticipated, requiring compliance with safety protocols.
