Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Medical Surgical Float / ED Overflow position requiring Level I Trauma and prior travel experience.

Responsibilities

Work in a Medical Surgical unit with float to ED Overflow in a large hospital setting

Short Term Acute Care, Level I Trauma Center environment

Team nursing model with collaboration among RNs, LPNs, Nurse Techs, and Resource Nurse

Shift options include 36 or 48 hours per week, with days (7 : 00–19 : 00) available

Weekend and on-call coverage required as needed

Floating may occur between like units and between campuses within a 20-mile distance, though inter-campus floating is rare

Cerner EMR is used; prior experience preferred

Provide direct patient care in med / surg settings and overflow coverage for the emergency department

Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary team using a team nursing approach

Must be willing to work assigned holidays; if Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's fall during assignment, must work 2 out of 3, or 1 out of 2 if only two occur

Dress code and scrub requirements will be provided upon hire

Travelers who were previously employed must have a separation of at least one year before returning as a traveler

All requested time off must be submitted at the time of application; no additional RTO will be considered after offer

Requirements

Active TN or compact RN license required at time of consideration; no pending licensure accepted

Minimum 2 years of RN experience in a hospital setting; 3 years preferred

Level I Trauma experience required

Large hospital experience required

At least one completed previous travel assignment is required; first-time travelers will not be considered

Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or higher accepted

Current BLS certification required

Must reside at least 100 miles from the facility (strict radius rule)

Copy of driver's license required for consideration

Vaccination status must be provided
