QUALIFICATIONS

  • Strong organizational skills that enable effective multitasking and management of competing priorities
  • Exceptional attention to detail
  • Proactive problem-solving abilities that allow for independent action when needed
  • Professional written and verbal communication skills
  • Comfort with online portals, forms, and document-sharing tools
  • Familiarity with plumbing and gas permitting processes (preferred but not required)
  • Experience in plumbing, HVAC, construction, or municipal permitting
  • Ability to handle time-sensitive tasks with accuracy under pressure

    • A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A PERMIT TECHNICIAN

    When you join our plumbing and heating company as a Permit Technician, you start each day by assessing newly approved jobs to identify necessary permits. You gather essential information-including customer and contractor details, job descriptions, fixture counts, costs, and town-specific forms while ensuring that every permit application is complete with license photos, Certificates of Insurance (COIs), and workers' compensation information.

    Additionally, you effectively coordinate with insurance agents, submit applications through town portals, and diligently track each permit's progress, following up as needed. Throughout the day, you manage inspection schedules, inform homeowners about municipal timelines, and ensure that licensed plumbers are ready for appointments. After inspections, you confirm results, update workflows, and notify the team to keep billing and job completion on track. In this fast-paced, detail-oriented role, your organizational skills and follow-through are essential for smooth operations.
