The Department of History at High Point University is seeking a full-time, non-tenure track Assistant Professor of World History (any time period) with a thematic focus; examples include, but are not limited to, the history of technology, science, medicine, human migration, cultural/intellectual traditions, law/governance, etc. The department has existing strengths in Anglo-European, Latin American, and U.S. history. Responsibilities include teaching a 3:3 load of general education courses in World History, first-year interdisciplinary courses, and upper-level seminars for the undergraduate major aligned with the instructor’s expertise. Employment will begin in August 2026.
A record of exceptional teaching and a PhD by August 2026 are required. In addition to teaching, duties will include service to the university, to the Douglas S. Witcher School of Humanities and Behavioral Science, and the History Department; participation in institutional activities; active engagement in student learning outside of the classroom; and upholding the university's values and advancing its mission.
